“Use Edge when you’re shopping online, it automatically applies all discount codes available at checkout.”

Be ‘App-y
“The Olio app is great for free things such as tinned food and renting power tools such as drills.
TooGoodToGo is another good app. It allows you buy ‘Magic Bag’ of great quality food from shops and restaurants that would otherwise go to waste at a great price.
What I love most about these apps is you can filter by your local area.”

Embrace wonky veg
“We get OddBox every week, for a large household it’s a good money saver. Also, there’s no plastic and the veg is seasonal and saves food that would otherwise be rejected by supermarkets.
This week I have tiny apples and an enormous mango.”

Friends and family
“We pass on our kids’ clothes and coats to friends and family - they grow so quickly and some things get so little wear. Our friends do the same for us and our kids. The younger kids love growing into the clothes they know used to belong to the bigger kids who are their friends. And it’s lovely for us when we see some of our favourite outfits getting more use. Better for our pockets and better for the environment.”

Be a Savvy Shopper
“I always use cashback sites and sites like Vinted. In fact, I have lucked out in the past where I have found a brand-new dress at half the shop price. (I only checked as the shop did not have my size.)
Through my husband’s job we have access to ‘perks at work’, but a number of private medical and protection providers offer the same type of thing. Whenever I shop a Sainsbury’s, I use a giftcard I have already purchased from ‘perks at work’ - which means I get 5% back! So, spending £600 a month gives me £30 a month back which is £360 a year. I use it at Christmas to buy vouchers as gifts, which I also get cash back on (some are up to 20%).”

Be an eco Warrior
“Upcycling is so much better – for your pocket and the planet – than buying new furniture. I’ve transformed dining sets, chests of drawers, wardrobes, even kitchen cabinets with a lick of chalk paint. Fusion is my favourite brand – it’s super easy and super tough. Annie Sloan and Frenchic are also good. I find pieces in junk shops, on my local Freecycle group or even on the street. (But do check for woodworm before you bring anything into your house.)”
