Rakibul Islam - Financial advisers, investment, wealth management and pensions advice - Ginkgo Financial Ltd

Rakibul Islam Paraplanner

Your job in a nutshell
I help the advice team with day-to-day admin support whilst training as a Mortgage Adviser. Having studied Economics and Accounting at university, I’m loving the on-the-job training experience I’m getting as an apprentice.

Tell me about your first paid job?
Handing out leaflets door-to-door. It was a great way to keep fit, although a bit chilly during the winter!

What led you to where you are now?
Finance is something I've always been around and it is something I am fascinated by: how different financial systems and assets link to the fundamental functioning of society. My first aim is to become CEMAP qualified. Then, I’d like to qualify as a financial planner - within Ginkgo I hope!

What was the first thing you bought with your own money?
It was a Blackberry, which was extremely popular at the time and one of the first smart phones to allow messages between other people with Blackberries.

What’s the most frivolous thing you’ve ever bought?
Some jeans that cost £300.00. Looking back now, I think what a waste of money!

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Life is good. Not always, but mostly. And when it is not so good, be assured it will get better.

What’s the best thing about working at Ginkgo?
Everyone who works here, they are all so friendly and helpful. They really make it an enjoyable environment to work in.
