Your job in a nutshell
I sit between the pension schemes and our clients, collating and processing all the information we need to move cases through smoothly.
Tell me about your first paid job?
I worked on the production line in a Christmas cake bakery – in the summer holidays!
What led you to where you are now?
Pre-children, I worked as a merchandiser in retail, managing a small team. Then I spent eight years as a qualified childminder, looking after a team of local children. I’m energetic and organised, so it suited me well. Once my own three kids were older, I was ready to re-enter the world of office work – which led me to Ginkgo.
What’s the most frivolous thing you’ve ever bought?
Splashing out on pastries at Borough Market after a long run into London along the river. I’d earned it!
What’s your retirement dream?
To live by the coast with lots of hills and coastal paths to hike and explore.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
It’s a small world and you never know who you’ll come across in the future. So always be friendly and polite to everyone.
What’s the best thing about working at Ginkgo?
Learning new skills and processes and working as part of a team in an office is such a nice change from being self-employed and working from home. Being local and part time means I’m still home for my children before and after school.
