About Angela
Buying a home, remortgaging or making sure your family is protected are some of the biggest financial commitments you’ll make. My job is to help you make them with a clear view of your options, in your own time.
I’ve been a mortgage adviser since 2021, working with first-time buyers, home movers, landlords and people whose circumstances are less straightforward. Before that I worked in estate agency, so I know how the whole purchase fits together, not just the mortgage.
I explain the reason behind everything I ask for and everything I recommend, so you’ll always know what it costs and what happens next. Being part of a financial advice firm means I know far more than I would as a standalone broker, and if your question goes beyond mortgages and protection, the right colleague is just across the office. And I’ll never rush you. It should be on your terms.
Outside work, I’m a mum of two young boys, one of whom keeps asking for a dog – we had three when I was growing up in India. I also love discovering new places, especially if there’s good food involved.
If you have a mortgage or protection question, I’d be happy to talk it through.
Your job in a nutshell
Helping people make sense of their mortgage and protection options, balancing what they want, what they need and what’s available.
Tell me about your first paid job?
Teaching spoken English. I was 15 or 16 and tutored a group of kids at weekends. I had so much fun doing it.
What led you to where you are now?
I’ve had a bit of a winding career! I started tutoring when I was young and continued while studying in Canada. I then worked my way from customer service into management at McDonald’s and later became an Office Manager at a mortgage firm. After moving to the UK, I worked in estate agency, which eventually led me into mortgage advice. It turned out to be the perfect combination of things I genuinely enjoy: maths, property, finance and working with people. After several years in mortgages, I joined Ginkgo because I wanted to keep growing and broaden my knowledge of financial advice in a friendly environment where I could be myself.
What was the first thing you bought with your own money?
When I was a kid, my father used to give me all his 2-rupee coins and my sister all his 5-rupee coins. We saved them for three years and bought a bicycle together.
What’s your retirement dream?
I’d love a home that’s not too big and not too small, with room for friends and family to visit and enough freedom to travel. If I’m much older, a retirement community with friends sounds pretty good too. Ideally, I’d split my time between two places and follow the good weather!
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Back yourself, worry a little less, and enjoy the journey more.
What’s the best thing about working at Ginkgo?
Ginkgo really does feel like home. I feel like I have the space to learn and grow here, while being surrounded by people who are always happy to share their knowledge. There’s a real common-sense approach to how things are done, everyone is encouraged to speak up and collaborate, and you genuinely feel like your voice is heard. That’s probably what I value most.
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
